Agent experience exploration

What will good ux look like when everyone has their own agent with more user context than a new web service could?

I wanted to think through how user workflows on a website might change once personal agents are commonly adopted. In many types of services, a user's personal agent will already have robust context on the user's goals and preferences. Pushing the intelligence out to the user's agent will actually improve the results a user can achieve!

Some thoughts:

  • This paradigm will probably not be as effective for team-facing products. Thesse may benefit from a centralized context/intelligence so it can be shared.
  • "Copy this prompt into your agent" is fine as a thought exercise but we will need a better experience than this soon!
  • This paradigm pushes token costs onto users. In the context of Q1 2026, this sounds good for site owners. But if tokens are cheap enough that every consumer is happy to hook up their agent to every site, this future will be driven by UX considerations, not economics.
